Crafts for Kids

Teaching crafts to kids is so much fun !  Kids are so eager to learn and so enthusiastic.  At the moment I'm teaching a class of 10 children, ages 7 to 11 once a week.  Sometimes it is a challenge  to find crafts that appeal to all the ages, but the internet is a tremendous help ... I even think I couldn't do it without .... Pinterest ! I find so many ideas and tutorials on Pinterest .... it's almost addictive ;-))

Each week I try to teach the kids a new technique ... once in a while the project might take two weeks ... however, the kids don't seem to get enough of making macramé friendship bracelets ... they keep asking for more......  and next week will be the third week we'll be making friendship bracelets ;-)

When we were sewing the 'owl' felt bookmarks, one of the kids suggested to play the 'silent' game ...  and as they were 'silent' and quietly sewing I couldn't help but chuckle and think ... if anyone enters this classroom they'll think they have been catapulted back into the 19th century ... 10 little angels at a desk, quietly sewing  ;-))

I believe that kids nowadays are not only interested in computers, TV and games ...some of them still love to do crafts as much as I used to do when I was a kid ;-))

Snuffelmarkt (Fair) in Simpelveld

Bij de jaarlijkst Snuffelmarkt in Huize Damiaan in Simpelveld waren dit jaar ook hobbyisten uitgenodigd.  Jammer genoeg viel de opkomst tegen vanwege het zeer slechte weer .... zeker wel 10 centimeter sneeuw !   Maar desondanks was het een gezellige middag ... en ... de koffie was overheerlijk ;-)   Het blijft leuk om mensen te informeren en enthousiast te maken voor de hobbies waar ik zo veel plezier aan beleef.  Hieronder een kleine impressie :

This year I participated in a Fair at Huize Damiaan in Simpelveld.  Because of bad weather conditions (more than 10 cm snow), not many people visited the Fair.  But I still had a good time because I loved sharing my hobbies with the people who visited my booth ... and the coffee was excellent ;-)

SNUFFELMARKT

SNUFFELMARKT - entree GRATIS

Wanneer :  24 februari 2013 van 10.00 - 15.00 uur.

Waar :  Huize Damiaan, Pater Damiaanstraat 38 in Simpelveld (Limburg).

Behalve mooie tweedehands spullen is er dit jaar een grote diversiteit aan stands met nieuwe spullen, diverse creatieve stands en zelfs workshops.

In de gezellig Preuverie kunt u bijkomen met een hapje en een drankje.  De Boekerij is een uniek boekwinkeltje in de voormalige bibliotheek van het klooster met boeken en mooie kaarten.

Tot ziens in Simpelveld ;-)

Embroidery, Cross stitch, Stitching ...

Embroidery is a wonderful way to relax ... I particularly enjoy cross stitching.  Most of the time I'll choose an existing pattern and then I'll do my own thing with it.
